CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) is an internationally recognised accountancy body with 172,000 members and students in 165 countries.
The CIMA qualification has an emphasis on developing the management accounting profession and is becoming increasingly recognised and sought after as it covers topics that other accounting qualifications don't, including applied management accounting techniques, marketing operations and resource management.
CIMA is constantly updating its qualification and professional experience requirements. This means that its members and students will always be the first choice for employers who are recruiting financially trained business leaders. Anyone can take the CIMA qualification because it is an open entry qualification, which means it is open to school leavers, graduates and skilled people with several years of experience.

In order to become a member of the CIMA, students will need to have:
  • complete the CIMA certificate level. This consists of five exams.
  • complete the CIMA professional qualification. The professional qualification consists of ten exams including a final case study.
  • Demonstrate three years of relevant professional experience.
Holding a CIMA professional qualification implies numerous benefits. It ensures a higher professional status in the eyes of an employer, clients and associates. It ensures employment stability, affords greater professional development opportunities, and for an employer, is frequently a component of building an employee's career path.

To begin CIMA studies one must register at the organization as a student. The persons who wish to sit their first exams in November must register (Registration) with CIMA by 31 July and those who will begin their exams from the May session, by 31 January.
